In August-September this year, further improvements were made to the dairy in a move towards a more automated system.
The new system has automatic cup removers and digital milk readers. When milk flow drops to 200ml/minute or less for more than 30 seconds the cups are automatically removed, which is better for the health of the cow and more efficient.
There is a machine that scans the cows' ear tags as they enter so it is easy to track how much each cow is producing, their average milk flow and start and stop time. With this new system it will also be possible to tailor the amount and type of feed given to specific cows.
